Sam can cry on command, swallow down the excitement of bungee jumping, eat a dirty playing card despite his germophobia, and steal lobsters on an island in Maine to survive – why on earth can’t he fall in love at first sight? Or at least feel this innate sense of attraction the rest of humanity seems to just immediately be able to tap into?
(He’s not a scientist, he is a YouTuber, but somewhere along the way he’s started treating himself like an alien specimen in need of some research, and now it’s hard to stop and go back to thinking of himself as human)

Pulling in a deep breath through the gap in his front teeth, Adam squares his shoulders. “Benjamin, we’ve been dating for three years now.
