"Hey."
"Hey," Leon whispers.
He clears his throat again. He glares at Jill's desk, at the splinters she always picks at and makes worse, at her too-large collection of pens, at the dog's stupid little face. She's out there somewhere, maybe dying, definitely fighting, and he's sitting here acting like one conversation is gonna be the thing that takes him out.

"You said you weren't hurt."
"Because I'm not?"
General Plo shot him a blank look. He didn't seem impressed. "Wolffe, you're covered in blood."
Okay, that was an exaggeration. At most half of his face was covered in blood.

Summary
"Qui-Gon might come." The words sound pathetic in his broken voice, but it's a hope he has to latch on to. Even if what Xanatos said is true, even if he truly cares so little for the beings in his care, even his apprentices — Obi-Wan won't disrespect him by believing that blindly. Qui-Gon has saved him before. He might do so again.
He'll have to hurry if he wants to. If he's counting right, Obi-Wan has six hours to live.

Summary
Obi-Wan Kenobi had to be among the biggest fools in the galaxy. How anyone had thought it a good idea to entrust him with a child, a small child at that, was beyond him. He could barely take care of himself and here he was caring for a child. And, might he add, failing miserably at it.

Summary
Everywhere that it mattered, he was still the rookie that had taken a bullet for her. Ada ignored the quiet weight that settled in her chest at the thought. And he had grown up. Everywhere that it mattered. She ignored the flutter in her stomach.
Six months since Spain and Ada still dreamed about him. This time, she knew Leon had made it out alive. Why was she still thinking about him?

Summary
Leon, she always thinks, is perpetually bracing, every muscle in him pulled together by an emergency stitch that’s supposed to hold the wound of his entire body shut. Every frown line, every scar wrapping around the contours of his bones is a silent demarcation of pain.
She imagines the stitches of her own body unraveling, row by row, until she’s undone every suture inside her and realized that there’s nothing left — that this whole time, her body was just the aftermaths of the scars she suffered to invent herself, holding themselves together, and nothing more.

Summary
Whenever Grace was feeling down, she liked to imagine all the different ‘R’ Commanders, Captains and Operatives as the same mythical “superhero” BSAA soldier. It felt nice to imagine (if only for a moment) that wherever a bioweapon would spring up there would be an immovable soldier to meet its unstoppable force, saving the day.
But of course, no one person could do all that.Or:
The one where Grace cannot believe all the redacted BSAA Captains are the same guy who, along with his husband, highk kinda adopted her.
Originally thought of as a 5+1 but then I lost the plus one and gained the power of familial love instead.Bookmarked by junos_comet

Summary
“I knew I'd find you around here.”
Leon jolts awake, and for a second, he’s only aware of the pink, flickering neon over the counter and the clock ticking right above it. He doesn’t reach for his holster—he knows that voice all too well. He glances up, blinking slowly, to meet Chris’s gaze.
“Your stealth’s gotten better.” Leon gestures at the mug growing cold on the table in front of him. “Before you say anything unpleasant—that’s coffee.”
Chris scoffs, then smiles.
“I wouldn't blame you for indulging in a drink after the night you just had.”
“Really?” Leon inhales deeply, holding back a coughing fit that he chalks up to an entire building collapsing on him, just a couple of hours ago. “Aging is making you soft, Captain Redfield.”
There’s a mineral aftertaste at the back of Leon’s throat, and there was a time when he would have considered watering it down with a drink, falling into his glass until morning only to forget the sound of his own name. But the man he is today can only wonder if it will eventually wash off, or if Raccoon City’s crumbling foundations will somehow always stick with him.
—
Chris finds Leon just a few hours after Requiem's events.
