Summary
Arlo's had bad luck -- from biological family, to foster homes, to his physical disabilities, to even his displeasure in being a regressor, he's never actually had something go right for him. When another caregiver, River, shows up, he's rightfully nervous, and doesn't want to trust him. Things will hopefully work out, as everyone around him says, but he can't truly believe that, nor does he truly want to. Difficult feelings surface, even more difficult situations too, but things pass and time will heal, it may just take a lot of time, cuddles, snacks, and trust to get there.
Not to worry though, River is around to stay no matter how rough the currents get.
