Like everyone else around here Vidal looked tough and world-beaten, stubbornly resistant to it but affected by it nonetheless. Neither his dark hair nor his dark, glowering expression stood out in an angry Spain, but there was something else to him that grabbed Pine's attention immediately, though it took him a while to put it into words. 'Paradoxical,' that was it, and the idea came to Pine in English for once. Vidal raged calmly from his place beside the brigade commander, held himself upright with an unrefined grace, held complete control over the nervous energy that made his fingers twitch while his face remained carefully impassive.

Summary
Jonathan couldn’t stop thinking of his and Teddy’s dance long past when it was appropriate. He should call it his, Teddy’s and Roxy’s dance but she was only on the periphery. His mind returned to Teddy over and over again. The weight of his hands on Jonathan’s waist. He’d never been held like that in his life, he’d never been gazed at like that. He’d never been so totally blindsided by crushing desire.
He told himself it was simply him playing the part. But Matthew Ellis was as good as dead and Jonathan suffered a terrible problem. He couldn’t stop thinking about Teddy, he couldn’t stop the endless yearning to touch him.
-Jonathan wants Teddy badly, in a way he's never allowed himself to feel for a man.
