Summary
"I dom men too," Sid says dubiously, now clearly trying to find a secret offering of equal merit.
Zhenya snorts, endeared against his will by Sid, which happens too often for his liking. He decides not to share that he would sub to men, if it weren't riskier than subbing to women, on the off chance that Sid thinks that he has to come up with another confession in return. "Thanks for telling," he says sincerely instead.
Sid looks up from where he has been staring unfocusedly at the beer he has only had two sips of. "Have you been bratting because you haven't had a scene in too long?"
Being a hockey player has been more important to Zhenya than almost anything else about him - being a man, being Russian, being a sub. He hasn't regretted what he gave up to play in the NHL, but there are days when he's very lonely. Being able to play with Sid helps. It takes a while for them to figure out the rest.

Sid was smiling at her. He was a nice guy. He was trying. He had brought her flowers. He wanted her to like him, and Anya wanted to like him, she wanted everything to work out, for Zhenya to be happy, and for her and Sid to get along. She thought they probably would. Zhenya loved him for a reason.
“Of course,” she said. She believed it then, watching his smile. “I think we’ll be friends.”

He's got next to no plan, and kind of expects the door to get shut in his face immediately, but he's got nerve. He's going to say his piece no matter what, because he's not letting this just...happen.
(And if there's an itch in the back of his mind that tells him to hold just a little tighter to the hope, the dream of racing side-by-side, he will firmly ignore it before flying into the barriers.)

Not that he planned to hand over a resume before fucking, but it was the principle of the thing, being prepared. Geno was probably winging it. Sidney wondered what he would come up with.
“I play hockey,” said Geno. “In the NHL.” The little shit. Sidney glared. Two could play at that game.

He passes out for a little bit and wakes to a hand on his ankle. It’s Sid, shirtless in the pool, smiling at him. “You got room up there for me?”
It’s a tight fit, but Sid manages to wriggle onto the float without dumping Zhenya into the water. Zhenya doesn’t know why Sid’s giving him this personal attention, but he’s not going to argue, and he’s flushed with pleasure as Sid settles beside him, on his belly with his legs dangling into the water.
