Summary
Shane Hollander is looking forward another off season with his secret boyfriend but it is harshly interrupted by a call from the NHL to comply with a rare doping investigation. Things seem to be straightforward enough, but tensions rise as Yuna insists on helping manage the situation and everything else. And when an unexpected suspension hits both Shane and Ilya, they’re forced to face their worst fears.
Technically starting before the events of The Long Game, this fic starts at the beginning of the 2020 off season. Major minor canon divergence: no one from Shane’s team knows about his relationship with Ilya. Using show canon Yuna, but otherwise building off of the Game Changers book canon.

Summary
To be clear, Ilya is grateful the rookies aren’t growing up the way he did in the NHL. Ilya took the hazing to the chin – humiliation rituals, beat downs, grueling practices to prove he could “hang” with the big guns on the team.
That being said, there’s still some part of Ilya that balks at the request by the gaggle of rookies to watch The Iron Giant, a veritable children’s movie at the team’s latest movie night.

As soon as he said the words, Buck had reacted, flinging himself upright and pressing his body back against the arm of the couch as if he were desperate to escape Eddie's touch. Luckily for Buck, Eddie was the only one who caught it, everyone else in the vicinity too concerned with their own tasks.
“Gloves!” Chimney announced, before launching the small, cardboard dispenser box across the dining area at Eddie, who caught it cleanly.
“Fuuuck…” Buck whined, eyes set on Eddie as if he couldn't look away.
“Stop complaining, you've been through worse than this!” Eddie laughed, wiggling his fingers into the first glove. Though, by the look on Buck's face, you'd think he categorically had not been through worse than this. The man looked utterly tortured, flushing brighter than Eddie had ever seen him before and–
