Natasha lounges across the couch in their room looking tired and a little annoyed. She shifts her position, looking over at him for a long moment. “Think I can fake sick to get out of this stupid ball thing?” she asks.
“No,” Tony tells her. She’s terrible at faking sick on account of when she gets sick she’s a mess.
“Fine, just don’t ditch me like you did last time,” she mumbles.
He sighs, “we kind of have to look like we’re putting an effort in and people don’t like us anyway, it’s not hard to scare them off.”

Summary
Tony knew better than to play with alien toys. He really did. But there was just something so tempting about other-worldly objects. It turned out that he wasn't the only Tony Stark that felt that way. One explosion later, there's a brand new Tony in town. But there's something not quite right about this Tony and how he reacts to the team, the way he flinches away from Bucky or shakes when Steve picks up the shield or won't turn his back to Clint and Natasha.
It turns out that not every Tony Stark is as lucky as Tony, but damned if Tony, Steve and Bucky aren't going to fix that.

“I wanna go soarin' with you, Tony." Bucky undid the messy bun on his head, let his hair fall wild over his shoulders, mingling with the coal black of his feathers. “And I’m pretty sure you wanna come soarin’ with me too. So let’s do this.”
“But you deserve a mate who can fly.” Tony closed his eyes. “And I can't anymore. My wings don't work. Not since after Afghanistan."
“I know.” Bucky smoothed his thumb at Tony's bottom lip. "But you don’t hafta be strong enough to fly by yourself, babydoll. I’m strong enough to fly us together. Strong enough to hold you in the wind. Do you trust me?"
"...yes."
