When he was a child, Namjoon didn’t see anything wrong with his lack of instincts.
Though a series of events during his childhood made him feel that there was. But the young Alpha had learned to simply accept this nature of his. Going through the rest of his life with the knowledge that no one will love him or want him in a pack.
But everyone was made to love, to receive, and give it tenfold. It is with Jung Hoseok and his pack did Namjoon learn that this is true. That even he, an Alpha that was made to believe that he is incapable of being loved, is worthy of being loved and more.

Namjoon was never one to consider himself an emotional person. He certainly had emotions, lots of them, but he had trouble allowing them to be these abstract forces that moved him. He sought more comfort in putting them in boxes, putting labels on them and studying them.
This made it that much scarier whenever one of the emotions got out of its box.

Or, after a rude question at a press conference sends Namjoon spiraling, he shuts down as he doesn't know how else to deal with the way it affects him. But Hoseok is there to offer him the comfort he didn't know he needed, and bring him down to a place where he can accept the affection and validation he didn't want to believe he craved.
