Gi-hun Seong was a bad detective and an idiot.
Such was In-ho's impression of the man who had shown up out of nowhere to ask him for help on a mission that would likely prove fatal to one or two policemen. However, given In-ho's other option was to die of either boredom or misery, the offer was tempting. At least to some degree.
And if he were to be completely honest, what did he have left to lose?A story exploring what would have happened if Gi-hun and In-ho had joined forces as detectives in bringing the games that had ruined their lives to a definite end. Perhaps it was dangerous. Downright stupid even to challenge an organization that expansive and ruthless as spies living out the pretenses of Frontman and masked officer. But once the idea was there, it wouldn't leave them alone. Whispering promises of something great. Something worth staying alive for.

Summary
Following their escape from the games in 2024, Gi-hun and the others quickly realize that not all of their problems ended with their debts. They don't have much time to do anything about it, however, when the organizers of the games track them down and kill them all in a single night, sending them back to the same building they had destroyed in a fiery explosion only a couple months prior. Except it's not the 2024 games that the formerly escaped players are returned to. Those won't take place for another three years.

To honor this wish, Gi-hun's director and his agent took another step to ensure the show went on indefinitely, by sending Gi-hun to shadow a real cop, namely; Hwang In-ho — for the sake of the show's being as realistic as possible.
Two irritated middle-aged men brought together by fate. One's a cop. The other's a superstar. Both have one thing in common; the resentment they hold for each other. It's gonna be fun.
