BEEEEEEEEEEP.
The honk comes without warning. For half a second, Carol thinks she has been shot.
Then it keeps going. A sustained, unbroken, eat-shit honk. The kind LA people deploy when they want to fuck you up as a person.
The honking stops. The Range Rover's window comes down.
"Are you leaving the space or not." The woman says it flat, and bored.
Carol puts her own window down. Slowly, for the fuck of it.
“No, lady. I'm not leaving. I’m parked. This is a parking space, and I have parked a car in it. Like a human being is allowed to. Your response to that was to put your hand flat on a horn for what, an hour? What the fuck is wrong with you?”

Someone in the audience gasps, another says oh my god too loudly into a mic that should have been dead and the room comes apart.

Summary
So yeah, maybe Santos had Garcia’s driver card stuck to her bedroom mirror during her formative teenage years, and maybe that headshot of Garcia with the trademark no-nonsense look on her face played some small part in her discovering her sexuality. And maybe in the back of her mind, she was thinking of Garcia when she declared her major in mechanical engineering, when she was pulling all-nighters with the FSAE team, when she was doing her PhD at the University of Pittsburgh before everything fell apart, again. Whatever, it’s not weird.

Maybe it's not noticeable to others, but Garcia is struggling. There's a slight tremor to her hands, usually freakishly steady, and she looks wobbly, getting out of the cockpit. Her foot catches somewhere as she's climbing onto the front for a quick victory pose.
Santos already sees her on the floor.
Before anyone can stop her she vaults over the fence separating them and crosses over to Garcias car. Just in time to crash into her instead of letting her hit the floor. Garcias helmet knocks against her shoulder heavily.

F1 driver Garcia trying to win back mechanic Santos by winning the championship because they got their wires crossed and both of them being very dramatic about it
