Alastor had found himself wanting to keep him, except he didn't actually have the right to declare that, did he? But if he'd asked, would Vox really have said no? Vox, who back then, had looked at him like the stars that shone in the skies? He wasn't sure he did want whatever else would come along with it. But he thought he might not have minded...experimenting. Vox had already been allowed far closer than he initially thought would be tolerable, after all.

But if it was Alastor...things had ended badly, but Vox had always felt safe around him, even at his most vulnerable. Some part of his self-preservation instinct was probably dysfunctional, because he knew theoretically how dangerous Al could be. But despite all the violence they'd dealt to each other, there had always been a line, unwritten though it was. Maybe it was foolish to believe that it still remained intact, especially when their last interaction had been far from positive, but even so.

This is not, Blitzo thinks, sounding a little bit desperate even to himself, some sort of revelation.
His flicks of the lighter get a little more unstable, a little more frustrated.
A clawed hand reaches over and takes hold of the lighter, lighting Blitzo’s cigarette with practiced ease, as if he’d done the same thing a thousand times before (He has, Blitzo realizes).
“Silly Blitzy,” he giggles quietly, giving Blitzo a soft pat on the head before curling up beside him, stretching one last time before closing his eyes to sleep.
Blitzo feels warm.
This, Blitzo tells himself, and it sounds like a command, will not be a problem.
