Summary
“You dare suggest that I betray Iroh?” Fire Lord Azulon did not shout. “My first born? After the demise of his only beloved son?” The old man leaned back in his throne shaking his head, “You have made an irrevocable error here, today, Ozai. What man of honor, what brother, what Uncle, would use this tragedy, a death towards furthering our family’s sacred mission as you call it, for his own political,” He practically spat the word, “gain. No, no, Iroh has suffered enough, but you, my son, have been far too coddled.”
Zuko felt Father’s tension, but his stomach truly dropped when he saw Azula’s own worry, clear as day on her perfect actress face.
“You need to be taught a lesson,” Fire Lord Azulon decided. “You must, too, suffer the pain of losing your first born.”OR

“Thanks for coming with me,” Sokka said, leaning against the balcony.
“Did I have a choice?” Zuko asked, wincing at how harsh it sounded.
Sokka just scoffed. “Uh, yeah. Nobody can make you do anything, you’re the Fire Lord. There’s like, two people on this planet who can tell you what to do and you’d listen— the Avatar and your uncle.”
“Three,” Zuko corrected.
“What?”
“Three people who can make me do stuff I don’t want to do,” Zuko said, softly. “The Avatar, my uncle, and you.”

Summary
Zuko realizes his destiny much earlier. As in, as soon as he wakes up in the palace after his Agni Kai and is told he is banished. Unfortunately, he's never been a patient one. So he storms right up to Ozai and tells him what he's going to do. And gets locked up for over three years. Then, one day, he's being pulled out and told he's the new Fire Lord.
A "Zuko never meets the Gaang and suddenly becomes Fire Lord after three years of literal torture" AU. In which the Gaang doesn't know what to think of the new Fire Lord who happens to be the missing nephew of Aang's firebending teacher, Iroh constantly has a headache, and, sure, maybe the world hates the Fire Nation, but the Fire Nation LOVES Zuko, and he can work with that.

Summary
“Have you noticed how Zuko really likes his reflection?” Sokka asked one day, as they had breakfast in the Fire Nation dining hall at a rather later time in the morning than usual. They had been at the palace to discuss politics and help Zuko meet with Earth King Kuei, but the negotiations were over without much altercation, and they had the rest of the time to themselves.
Aang chuckled, “If I looked like him, I’d check myself out a lot too.”
Toph rolled her eyes. “Calm down, loverboy.”
Just a very short and sweet 3 part drabble about Zukaang and them dealing with trauma after the war. Lots of fluff and comfort.

Summary
AU where Zuko realises early into his banishment that Ozai is an abusive bastard who sent him on a wild goose chase. Iroh turns their decommissioned warship into a floating tea shop, and Zuko settles down as a tea server onboard the Jasmine Dragon.
And then, years later, the Avatar emerges from the iceberg.
And then Aang decides that he wants Zuko, the first good firebender he’s met this century, to be his firebending teacher - even though Zuko wants nothing to do with him.

Summary
Prince Zuko is born with a soulmark on his chest. He's the first royal child in six generations to have a soulmate, even if no one can really tell what the mark is supposed to be.
(Ninety-five years earlier, the new Avatar is born with a spine that's already scarred.)
-
Aang and Zuko are platonic soulmates. It takes an extraordinarily long time for either of them to figure it out.

Summary
Their soulmarks should not make sense together.
A peaceful airbender with too much power, a sarcastic warrior with a sharp mind, an emotional waterbender with a savior complex, a suppressed earthbending terror with authority issues, and a confused firebender who’s 90% trauma, 10% honor.
Their soulmarks really should not make sense together.
The spirits beg to differ. And now five people – who never even should have met – are tangled together by fate, ink, and the complicated mess of becoming who they’re meant to be.

Let's take a closer look at some key points in the Gaang’s journey and inspect it through a different lense. Them being soulmates doesn't really change much… until it does. -

"He has the eyes, Princess Ursa." They were half-forgotten words, a whisper of fears never explained. Zuko had dismissed it all as nothing to worry about—until he somehow healed the Avatar. Fire healers weren't meant to exist, except he did. He'd saved the kid's life. Naturally, he wanted answers. Too bad finding them wasn't so simple...

Summary
Ursa always knew Zuko was entangled in the spirit world.
Even the Fire Sages said so when he was presented. Zuko was a mirror. A reflection of the past and future. The one to lead peace and prosperity in the future of the Fire Nation. She did not expect the spirit to visit him.
