years – no, time doesn't pass here, whenever – ago, if they didn't feel up to it, they would've simply politely smiled and declined. now, the constant pain in every spot of their body and in their mind is too agonizing to ignore and behave normally and politely around. they don't bother with a smile or wiping up the purple blood that dribbles from the side of their mouth. "that won't be an issue, thank you. the Spawn will look after me."
