Audata snapped her head to the door of the house. Her son stood in the hall, his little face red and eyes puffy as he cradled his forearm, a sob stuck in his throat.
Audata dried her hands on the towel and hurried to her child. “Phainon, love, what –”
“My mark!” her four-year-old son interrupted, voice quickly growing hysterical. Audata reeled back. Small chest heaving and words slurring, he showed her his arm where his soulmark that had once glowed with the golden color of the sun was now rapidly losing color. “It’s gone!”

His owner just happens to be the actual, real Phainon, whom he also happens to know, was painfully smitten with the actual Mydeimos?

Summary
Phainon bathes alone, as a matter of necessity and discretion. But when Aglaea sentences him to share a bath with Mydei after they cause a commotion, Phainon realizes he's not the only man of his kind. Prince Mydei, his annoyingly attractive rival and sparring partner, has more in common with him than he imagined, and it pushes them closer together than ever.
(Aglaea, of course, knows all of this. She suspects, too, what will happen when she sends them on a mission to Aidonia in the dead of winter.
But really, what's a demigoddess of Romance good for, if not guiding her lonely proteges into increasingly intimate situations until they finally admit their feelings for each other?)
