The nursemaids, his mother, his father and the rest of his brothers had seen him latching onto Baelor the moment he could walk and Maekar knew his approach, his existence by merely scent and footfall beforehand. The revelation, the confirmation, the conscious effort, however – he had done it after his seventh nameday.
Maekar has loved his brother in all it forms ever since he breathed into the world and nothing has ever changed that. It is his own kind of madness he long accepted, the kind he believed be taken to the grave.
