“I could leave the room and observe from out there,” I say.
“No,” Grace insists. “Go to other end of ship. Go back to sleep. Go unconscious.”
“I want to observe,” I say. “You’re enjoyable to watch. I want to know. I want to perceive everything about you.”
Grace… doesn’t say anything in response to that. His mouthparts move soundlessly, and his tongue flickers out to moisten his lip.

Scarab is seated in the observational room with several other thrumming scientists. They shift uncomfortably at the scene commencing before them. The Savior of Stars lies on an Acoustic Reverberance Platform across a barrier of clear xenonite. The Savior, known as ‘Dr. Ryland Grace’, is currently… expressing intimacy… with the Survivor. ‘Rocky’, as the Savior calls them. Observing feels blasphemous.

Summary
The longer Grace spends with Rocky, the more he wishes he could touch him. Grace has never been a very tactile person, but something about his alien roommate has him contemplating what it would be like to throw an arm around him or grab his hand without the xenonite between them.
It's not like Grace has anyone else to touch these days.
Or: Five times Grace wants to hold Rocky's hand, and one time he gets what he wants (and more).

Summary
Chasimi recognized the rounded shapes of their carapace as Brezahn, a member of their region's Council of Culture, and one who maintained and recorded the their long history. He admired the soft curves of their carapace, not out of attraction but that those gentle angles indicated a long life and he wished to get there one day with Valbresé and their pebbles in tow.
"Welcome, fresh-molted and old-polished, to this year's Egg Run!" Brezahn's tinkling tones reminded Chasimi of wind chimes. "The Council advises any clump not ready to make this run to stand aside, there is no shame in preserving your shell over possible death."
