Summary
They’ve only been living together for two months, since Alex moved to the city for law school. Henry's Brooklyn apartment was a short commute to NYU, and the price was unbeatable, so he agreed to move in without even meeting the man in person. He was nervous, at first, to share close quarters with a stranger, but it’s worked out shockingly well; Henry is kind and considerate, and they mostly leave each other alone.
He’s also quite obviously gorgeous, and Alex doesn’t know why there isn’t a string of men coming and going from Henry’s room at all times, or perhaps one steady man. Inexplicably, Henry seems to have been single since Alex moved in in August.

“I’m currently re-reading Pride and Prejudice?” Henry offers, and phrases it as a question because he’s a dimwit.
“Ya, that checks out,” Alex says, cocking an eyebrow. “But I’m looking for something that’s, I dunno, actually fun. You got any recommendations?”
Alex gives him a smile, like this is just the kind of thing you ask a librarian. Henry supposes that actually, it probably is.
“Right, well, I can probably help with that too.” Henry grabs another scrap of paper, scribbles down The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and pushes it over to Alex. “Since you seem like the kind of person who thrives on debauchery and general lawlessness.”

Adam nimmt ihm eine Tasse ab und nimmt einen vorsichtigen Schluck, während Leo unter die Decke schlüpft und seine eigene Tasse auf dem kleinen Nachtschrank neben sich abstellt. Die bunte Kiste schiebt er Adam zu, der überrascht aufschaut.
“Was ist das?”, fragt Adam neugierig und sieht zu Leo, der nervös seine Unterlippe zwischen die Zähne gezogen hat.
“Mach auf”, sagt er mit rauer Stimme und Adam löst vorsichtig den Deckel.
In der Kiste liegen mehrere Umschläge und obendrauf eine Karte. Adams Kehle wird für einen Moment eng, als er den Schriftzug auf dem grünen Untergrund liest.Es ist nie zu spät für eine glückliche Kindheit.

It started when he was three years old and brought a rabbit with a broken leg from their yard to his room, claiming that since it was hurt, it needed his bed more than he did. The animals changed over the years, ranging from birds with damaged wings to a three legged puppy from the shelter he volunteered at in high school, but the feeling of needing to protect something so lost and vulnerable never went away.
He felt the same looking at Scott’s boyfriend alone on the ice.
