Summary
John “Soap” MacTavish is frozen under the weight of a singular glowing golden eye. Its vertical pupil dilates and contracts and Soap swears he can feel the physical weight of a touch skimming over his body as it trails up and down him, assessing. The touch feels as if a singular sharp claw is being dragged over his skin, holding him in place with the silent threat of evisceration should he so much as breathe.
So he doesn’t breathe, he doesn’t move, he can’t even bring himself to look away from that eye as he’s studied; as his fate is decided by the sleek, inky black creature standing just a few feet in front of him.
Soap’s skin feels as if it’s burning under the weight of that stare, but he’s finally able to take a breath in. He lets it out through his nose slowly, quietly, and is careful not to move as he tries to convince his body he isn’t in danger.
But he isn’t convinced. . . isn’t even close, and as he’s able to finally tear his gaze away from the one eye that he can see, he becomes almost sure that he is in danger.

Summary
Freediver John “Soap” MacTavish has trained for years to break the world diving record—pushing his body beyond limits, mastering the silence of the deep. But as the record attempt nears, something begins to stir beneath the surface.
Something watching him.
Something waiting. It starts as a feeling, a presence just out of reach, one that fills him with unease... and a strange sense of longing. The deeper he dives, the more he feels it, a pull that’s not just in his mind, but in his bones.
Like he’s not alone down there. Like whatever is waiting for him in the dark has always been meant for him, and him alone.- Language:

Summary
And in that pulse of light John sees him.
A man wearing a dark hood stands at the end of the hallway, massive and hulking, larger than any human should be. His shoulders rise and fall, slow and steady and John knows whoever this man is — he’s no soldier. There’s an underlying motion to him, a twitch that has John reaching for the pistol that he doesn’t have, warning bells going off in his mind.
The light sputters once more, and the figure is shifting, the slightest incline of his head as if he’s just realized John was behind him. But something is — different, the light seeming to catch on more than one shape at once.
“Identify your —” but words fail him as the figure turns further, John able to get a peek of what lies beneath the hood, the harsh light catching on the edge of a white skull mask. Haunting and familiar and John feels his breath catch sharp in his chest.
“Simon.”

Summary
Ghost suffered the worst of it. Extra arms, tears in his skin right down to the bone that ooze black goo, twitching and a complete inability to form complex sentences or do anything but hiss and growl and groan. And of course, the extra heads.
‘Riley’, the one on his left with the cloth mask with the clouded-over eyes, is sensitive to sound and able to pick up things the other heads can’t hear. He’s also the sweetest, the one who whines when Soap doesn’t touch him for too long, the one who always wants to be kissed first. ‘Ghost’, the head on his right, relies on smell as well as sight, sensitive to pheromone changes and able to detect gas even before some of their machines. He’s the most animalistic, snapping his jaws and snarling whenever someone other than Soap gets too close.
The middle one, Ghost had explained, was ‘Simon’. The most ‘him’ one. At least, that’s what he’d wanted to believe. The clearest-thinking, the one that observes, the one that’s driving the whole unit more than the others.
It doesn’t matter to Soap. He’s still Ghost, his Ghost, his Lieutenant, his lover, his Simon Riley.
