Summary
A traveler finds himself on a tragically empty Teyvat where not even gods remain. With nowhere to go, nobody to speak to, and nothing to do, Aether begins to wander aimlessly, trying to piece together what had happened before his arrival. Not long after his initial arrival, he runs into Xiao, the sole survivor of a cruel war that has erased the rest of Teyvat's people. Having nobody else to turn to, they struggle to rely on each other. Restoring Teyvat seems like an impossible task, but it just might be possible should the two of them learn to trust each other...

“My name’s Aether! You look really under the weather. I don’t have much medicine on me since I just moved, but there’s a pharmacy nearby.” Aether’s breath is warm and Xiao just wants to cry. There’s an awkward pause before Xiao can muster up the willpower to reply.
“No need,” he whispers, struggling to keep his saliva at bay. He really needs to close this door right now. “I just need rest,” he slurs, slowly closing the door. Aether smiles something solemn and nods his head.
“Okay. If you need anything, I’m just a door over on the right. Even if you just want company.” On any other day, one where Xiao was not desperate for just the smallest drop of blood, he would have appreciated the offer of kindness. Now, all it does is pull at his still heart with a strange feeling of guilt. His instincts screech blood-blood-blood- drain and insist he tear Aether apart when all the newcomer wants to do is offer a helping hand.Or: Xiao, a Vampire with no safe access to food, is starving to death... and Aether is a little too kind for his own good.

Summary
Time passes differently for Adepti than it did mortals.
As the last yaksha of Liyue and protector against those who would threaten the peace hard won by his lord, Xiao has never paid much mind to its passage. Duty-bound and oath-sworn, it did him no good to mark the days until his dance with demon subjugation met its end.
But with the passing of his lord, the geo archon Rex Lapis, a mortal only known as the traveler, allies himself with Liyue and saves it from certain peril. Xiao, faithful to those who protect his nation, offers his name and oath to come when he calls. He thinks the only time he will ever see them is when things are truly dire.

When Aether was separated from his sister, Lumine, he was left alone to fend for himself in a world unknown to him. Still suffering from the loss of his old home, Khaenri’ah— in order to seek revenge, Aether created the abyss order. He is forced to become the cold and merciless prince of the Abyss, eliminating all in his way. Five-hundred years later, Aether reunites with his sister— but she has sided with the enemy. Even though Aether could never forgive himself for the monstrosity he has created, many notice his suffering and are more than willing to forgive him.
