Summary
First he sees the blood. Always the blood. Lathered on the floor, painted across the wall, gushing from the sliding doors like so much femoral flow.
Only once the flood resolves itself does he see it: the core wound. The mass on the floor, the tumor that would surely consume Buck, take his life.
Eddie.
Buck dreams. Eddie answers.

Summary
"We're a long way from home," says Helena, "searching for a man we barely know, who our son intends to marry. A man who's loved by so many strangers, but not his own parents."
"I don't think they're strangers to him."
"They're strangers to us."
"Yes," Ramon says. "I suppose they are."
Buck goes missing. Helena and Ramon help search for him.

Summary
"Look, it's not a big deal," Ravi says. "It's nothing to be embarrassed about."
Chimney's eyes dance with barely restrained glee. "Don't listen to him," he says. "It is a big deal, and you should be embarrassed."
"Well I'm not embarrassed," snaps Buck, heat coloring his cheeks. "It was nothing, you know? People say stupid things in high adrenaline situations. It doesn't have to mean anything."
"So you're … not in love with Eddie?"
Eddie falls off a cliff, and it knocks a few truths loose.

Summary
"It's not about … not wanting a relationship."
"Oh." Something about the way Eddie said it, hushed and hesitant, felt dangerous. A precipice loomed before them, and Eddie danced on tiptoe towards it. Buck wasn't sure what they'd find over the ledge, but he knew he'd hurl himself over, if only Eddie asked. "No?"
In the privacy of the desert, miles away from anything they know, Eddie opens up to Buck.

Summary
Buck knows three things for certain, and one thing for maybe.
Number one: Eddie does not have a POA.
Number two: if the doctors had come to the waiting room to ask what the group had thought Eddie’s wishes were, all eyes would’ve turned to Buck.
Number three: isn’t that what a POA is, really?
The maybe: Eddie would put Buck in his will a second time.Or: Eddie's hurt on the job. Again. Buck spreads misinformation in the waiting room.

Summary
Eddie has to stop Chris from sneaking food to the dog during dinner. “I know the meatballs aren’t your favorite,” he says tiredly. “But they have garlic in them, which isn’t good for the dog.”
Chris stops immediately, to his credit. “Sorry,” he says, and leans down to performatively whisper to the dog, “You’re not missing much anyway.”
“Hey,” Eddie says, with no heat. “I know they aren’t as good as --” He catches himself.
Chris wilts in his chair. “Sorry,” he mumbles again, and Eddie hates himself so much that for a second, he can’t breathe.
“Hen brought treats we can give the dog after dinner,” he tries instead, and Ladder Truck Dog’s ears prick up at the sound of words he recognizes, which at least makes Chris smile, just a little.
.
Buck goes missing. The 118 gets a dog. These two facts are unrelated, right?
