Summary
Positioning herself just so, Steph starts running her fingers through Cass’ hair. Cass’ greasy hair. “Dude, is Oracle neglecting you? You know you have to wash your hair, right?”
“Do. I do.” She shimmies forward so her tangles catch on Steph’s finger, forcing the hair through. It must pinch but pain like that doesn’t seem to register to Cass.
“When did you last wash it?”
Cass shrugs, with a touch of frustration. “One day. Already.”
“Yesterday,” Steph fills in. When you’re in the middle of an anti-annexed disaster zone, there’s no time to dwell on the past. It’s whether the water will last until tomorrow or the rats will take over the sewer next week or the Joker cultists will attack the displacement camps next month. It’s how long you can hold your shaky breath, stay on your aching feet, clamp down on your empty stomach.
“Oracle has been neglecting you,” Steph bemoans, flopping backwards.
Or, Cass hasn't been washing her hair effectively. Steph shows her how.

Love was not a matter of agreement, or even shared values. That is how it is with family: you can clash, and argue and fight, but no one else can. No one else has the right to.
But even after a thousand disagreements and even more arguments, Bruce remained the man who raised them. The man who grew into the role of a father for every kid that had lived under this roof.
So if this alternative Bruce had no Robins, one could at least hope there was someone else waiting for him. Someone who thought of him beyond just Batman. It was only fair, for no Bruce should ever be alone. Even if Bruce himself most often did not realize so.
Bats are social creatures, after all.
Or
Absolute Batman lands in the Mainline universe and learns that maybe his mission doesn't need to be a lonely one.

Jason takes a deep breath in, matching Bruce's unshakeable calmness. It's the first time in a long time that Jason feels like he can actually breathe.

Jason's brow furrows harder, this time with a judgemental cast. Out loud, he says, "Is that your whole argument?"
"Pretty convincing, right?" Steph says, waggling her eyebrows. Jason scoffs. "Listen, if you want to head out, you can. I get it, it's been a long fucking night. But you did me a favor and pitched in and fought some demons or whatever, so the least I can do in return is booze you up."
She certainly couldn't blame him for leaving—fighting demons tends to sap your social battery. But then again, he didn't have to follow her back to her apartment. He's had every opportunity to call it quits and dip, but he's still here. He's still willing to be around her. That probably counts for something.
Jason's mouth twists and pinches in on itself. Finally, he sighs, holds up a finger, and says, "One glass. Then I'm going home to take a fucking shower and crash."
