    Summary

The first person Daniel told he was a boy was his then best friend Mariam. They had been busy playing with a handful of purloined archaeological tools, carefully using the trowel to unearth buried rocks and the brush to clean them off, safely away from where their parents and the other adults on the dig might catch them. He’d whispered, like it was some secret, that he wished he’d been born as a boy.

Mariam had looked at him and, with the self-certain confidence only an almost 9 year old could muster, said, “When archeologists dig up your bones they'll know you’re really a girl. They can tell.”

After returning to Earth and joining SG-1, Daniel Jackson has to adjust to being a part of a team without them finding out he's transgender. Early canon.

Rodney looked confused, then angry. "It’s not a cage," he said, like she’d insulted him. "It’s a habitat. There’ll be a pond--fresh water, of course!--and trees, and--"

"John had very specific wishes about what should happen to him if he couldn’t be cured, Rodney," Elizabeth said.

“We do not take even our own observations quite seriously, or accept them as scientific observations, until we have repeated and tested them. Only by such repetitions can we convince ourselves that we are not dealing with a mere isolated ‘coincidence,’ but with events which, on account of their regularity and reproducibility, are in principle inter-subjectively testable.”

Popper, K. (1959). The Logic of Scientific Discovery. Harper & Row.
