“Your romantic involvement,” Worf replied blankly, “With Lieutenant Commander Data.”
“My what now?”
A simple misunderstanding had caused over half the crew of the Enterprise to believe in a romantic relationship between Lieutenant Commander Data and Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge. While almost everyone on board the ship eagerly spread the false information around, Geordi and Data had managed to finally come in terms with their feelings for one another with the help of friends.

A pair of concurrent thoughts followed one another in a rapid fashion.
He hoped the Enterprise would find him soon.

He would be worried, Data knew that to be a highly probable outcome.

Summary
William Riker had a reputation- one that made people blush when they heard his name, and raise their eyebrows when he introduced himself in a bar.
Lieutenant Commander Data did not blush, and if he raised his eyebrows it was more likely an expression of confusion than sexual innuendo. As such, those who did not know better found it easy to assume that he had no desires- no emotions- that he could not be receptive to an amorous touch.
Well, Riker was not so feeble-minded. Riker did know better.

Data overhears something in Ten Forward and thinks that maybe the thing holding him back from being more human is his appearance.
- At that moment a duo of engineering ensigns enter the bar, taking seats at the counter. One of them looks over his shoulder, making fleeting eye contact with Data. If Data is correct there was something other than a friendly glance in that look.
“God it's here again!” One of the ensigns whispers to his friend. If not for Data’s comparatively enhanced hearing he may not have picked up on it.
“It’s just so creepy, and I can’t believe that everyone expects me to treat it like it’s actually a person!”
Looking around, Data confirms that he is in fact the only non-human life form in Ten Forward besides Guinan. Were they talking about him? He believes that Deanna would call this “gossip.”

Data’s golden eyes fluttered open, glazed with sensation but attentive, listening and trusting.

Yes he'd had dreams of Spock going into the Warp Core instead of him, but this didn't even look like any star ship he'd been on before. The uniforms were different, and even his own voice didn't sound quite right.
If it had been a one-off, he would've dismissed it as just a weird thing, but having a new dream every night of memories not his own...
Something was off.
And maybe he wasn't the only one being impacted by this.
