He wasn’t expecting Will to look up with his eyebrows raised, a look of slight surprise in his expression, tilting his head at Nico. Unaware of exactly what his blunder had been, he decided to continue talking. “How did you choose the colours?”

Summary
The High King has long remained unmarried, for many reasons, the chief of which is that he has been carrying on a secret relationship with his herald. In an attempt to silence the ceaseless petitions for him to marry, he agrees to court Celebrían, with the understanding that nothing need change. Loving Elrond herself, she respects their relationship. And maybe she's feeling a little impishly spiteful having found herself unwittingly enmeshed in her mother's political aims.
