Summary
The flagrant heat of Liyue’s blazing sun does little to ease the fire that stirs within Childe. He and Zhongli have let bygones be bygones, and he’s glad to have the chance to return to their usual affairs: the dinners at Wanmin every other day, the strolls through Chihu Rock after each dinner.
And what better way to invigorate their routine than to cook some Snezhnayan dishes for the both of them?
TL;DR: Just before Zhongli arrives at his home for lunch, Childe makes the convenient decision to shove his fingers into himself over the kitchen counter.

“Exposure therapy,” Childe offered easily. “Surely, you’re familiar with the concept?”
“Of course, I am. It’s quite common. Though, Childe, my apologies but this will not get me to stomach your soup. Although, I appreciate the effort you took in cooking for me.”
“No, no-” Childe laughed. It twinkled with this amusement Zhongli latched onto with an earnest interest. Perhaps, that’s why he was so agreeable to it. “It is not dinner I want from you, Zhongli. How about a proposition, hm? To help you get over this aversion of yours. How bad could it be if it's just me?”
(Bad. Zhongli realizes in retrospect. Childe had lured him into this trap with honeyed words that Zhongli naively took at face value.)
