But when Eddie - in his enthusiastic way - starts getting a little touchy as he is whispering all sorts of things about the movie, Steve doesn't quite know what to do. Because Eddie was a tactile person, so it didn't mean anything.

"Steve, please," Eddie breathed into Steve's mouth between kisses, "Need you. Wanna feel- feel you." Eddie felt the rumbled hmm in response, vibrations from his throat and chest adding to the sensation. Steve lifted away, cradling his face in one hand so they could stare into each other's eyes.
"Tell me what you need, tesoro," Steve commanded softly, expression full of affection, of wonder, of want. Eddie huffed out a sigh, opening his mouth only to be shushed by Steve. "You said you want to feel. What do you want to feel, tesoro mio?"

When acting as chauffeur and chaperone for little brother Dustin Henderson and his three friends at a gaming convention, Steve didn't expect much from their meet-and-greet with streamer Eddie Munson. He just didn't want Dustin to get the idea that playing video games for a living was what people did.
When attending conventions, Eddie Munson had a strict no-relationship policy. At this point, it extended into his non-convention life as well. He would NOT date a fan, full stop. He just never thought he would meet someone at a convention who didn't even realize that streaming was a legitimate career now. And that man? Absolutely gorgeous.

“Now, we only have one issue. We need everyone at full strength. Which is why I talked to Vickie, and she was able to smuggle us‐” She reaches down and pulls up a small cooler, setting it on the table, “‐these.”
She pops it open, revealing blood bags. The reaction is immediate.
“No. No way. Eddie is never gonna accept those, Nancy, you know that.” Dustin protests.
“Well someone has to try. Human blood is the only way to get him to full strength. We can’t have anyone at half power. This is the only way.”
Arguments start up. Lucas, Mike and Dustin trying to defend Eddie and Nancy shooting them down.
Robin gives him a look and before he knows it, his voice rings out in the room.
“I can do it.”
Or: The team needs Eddie at full power for the final fight against Vecna. Who better to volunteer to help him than Steve?

Eddie lives.
For awhile.
Eddie lives for three years, seven months, 2 weeks, and four and a half days, to be exact.
Steve counted. After. After Eddie was gone. After the boy he was in love with faded, his grip on Steve's hand slipping, his eyes fluttering closed for the last time.
And they'd had time. Three years and seven months wasn't nothing. Not to them. But it wasn't enough. Steve watched Eddie die. A second time. Safe in a hospital bed this time, surrounded by the people he loved, and who loved him.
And it wasn't enough.
