The tattoo wasn't fully covered by his towel. Shane looked at Ilya who had a cheeky smile on his face that said: “This is going to be good”.
“Yeah, got it a few days ago”, Shane replied casually even when he didn't really feel that casual about it. There were a few surprised reactions from his teammates.

Summary
Cliff Marleau’s a guy who is rarely taken by surprise but a random phone call from Ottawa General Hospital on a Friday morning certainly was a bit shocking. Cliff had just gotten home from San Francisco the day before where he and his team had been knocked out of the playoffs and god did he miss Ilya Rozanov. As much as he had missed him though he was not expecting this.

Suddenly he feels a heavy weight slide on top of him, slowly flipping him over onto his back. He opens his eyes to see Derek straddling his hips, their noses nearly touching.
“Um…hi” Stiles finds this incredibly odd. “Why are you on top of me?”
Derek doesn’t respond, he just stares into his eyes, his face very firm.
