Summary
When Mahal himself offers to send Thorin back to the start of the quest to save the line of Durin, he is determined to make amends for all of the mistakes he made the first time around.
When Bilbo wakes up in Bag End eighty years in the past, all he knows is that he has somehow been given the chance to see his beloved dwarves again and he'll be damned if he doesn't take it.
Both dwarf and hobbit are desperate to prevent the quest from ending in tragedy, but neither will be able to do it on their own. They'll need to work together if they want to keep the entire Company alive and whole --but first they need to realize that they are not alone in their efforts, and they have to stop getting in each other's way at every turn they make.
Hopefully, they'll learn some things this time that they failed to learn before. And maybe, just maybe, they'll find their happy ending that both have been yearning for.

6 months after the first scene in Merrily We Roll Along Gussie Carnegie goes on a TV interview, vengeful from her recent divorce, and makes some wildly inaccurate claims about Frank Shepard. Unfortunately for her, Charley is waiting backstage for his own interview and as much as he can't stand Frank, he wants to protect his old friend.

“The pleasure’s all mine,” Charley says smoothly in a voice that sounds not at all like his own. But he’s the one in the chair now, and Gussie is back in the green room, and the eyes of the entire nation are on him. Three years ago Charley had forgotten there were even cameras present as he laid into Frank, pleading with his friend to come back, to remember who he was, to not sell out. It had felt for all the world like the only people there were him and Frank. Now, Charley feels more powerful than he has in years, maybe ever. Donna is smiling like all of this is normal, like it doesn't matter that Frank has just potentially lost his career and reputation, and the only person in the world who can do anything about it is Charles Kringas with 12 lights and 5 cameras on him on ABC.

“Terrified,” he tells Mary honestly, and when she lets out a quick laugh, he feels a little closer to her already. “And, well, you know. Over the moon.”
Charley gets a call from Frank, who desperately wants to make things right. Things go from there.
