“Remove this city from the national map,” he would say, pointing at a region circled in red. He never had to say more; the message was obvious. This city was conquered. This city was deserted. This city was ruined."

His eyes land on Damian sitting on a sofa, back straight and face neutral. His hair perfectly arranged, his hands relaxed in front of him. The image of perfection.
He doesn't say anything for now, he just takes a place on the edge of the small coffee table in front of him, hands resting on his knees. Damian doesn't look at him, he's looking towards the same bookshelf he has been staring at since he's entered."
