Summary
Some people might call it a sixth sense, but Jack Abbot is a doctor, so when he walks into the ED already feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, he knows it’s not magic, it’s his amygdala reading infinitesimal changes in the room. He isn’t conscious of it, exactly. But he’s not not conscious of it, either. His subconscious brain is processing minute changes in the environment, in the energy around him, in voice tone and volume, in motion and stillness. Patterns, and the changes therein. His therapist calls it hypervigilance, a trauma response. Jack calls it paying attention.
And okay, maybe it overreacts sometimes, this hypervigilance, but it's rarely wrong outright. So when he gets that feeling of something bad about to go down, Jack turns toward the source without consciously deciding to.
His eyes meet Robby's across the ED, and his entire body goes cold.
"Lena, call security," he says, the low whip-crack of his voice cutting through the conversation at the desk. "Get them here quiet. And call the police."

Summary
It was hard, damn near impossible, for a man like Robby to make himself small. Tall, broad-shouldered, wingspan of Michael Phelps, hands like bear paws. Robby didn’t shrink, didn’t hide, not usually.

Summary
Then he grinned and despite the wan shadows beneath his eyes, there was not a being in Creation more beautiful. More divine.
Centuries later, Lilith will wonder if he had known all along what would happen to him. If he had realized someday she would be forced to watch the light bleed out of him piece by piece, bit by bit, over and over again. That a year from now, she would wake to him sitting at the edge of their bedside, hands limp in his lap, staring into nothing.
For it had always been there after the Fall.
Once thrown from Heaven, the Morning Star fell and fell and never could be caught again, no matter who reached out. An AU in which Charlie's drive to run the hotel is shaped and fueled by a very different childhood.- Language:

Summary
He mutters, "I'm not letting go until you tell me what you're going to do when you've crossed state lines."
"I told you," Robby huffs, "Beer. Hot apple cider. Maybe a chicken pot pie on the porch of some good Samaritan who takes pity on me."
"Yeah? Chicken pot pie?" Jack hums, raising his eyebrows, receiving an affirming nod from the other. "Gonna go on a stereotypical-ass spirit journey? That's what you're going to do, Michael? That's the reason you hugged me like that? Like you were savoring it?"
/
And Michael Robinavitch would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for Jack Abbot.
