Summary
Everyone knows alpha/alpha mates aren't really a thing. Maybe not completely unheard of but certainly rare, and the idea of BONDED alphas is just freaking laughable. It's common knowledge they don't work, widely accepted because biology dictates and blah blah blah. Alphas set off all the wrong instincts in each other, rutting becomes downright dangerous, the whole thing is historically a disaster.
...So how the hell have Katsuki and Izuku managed to wake up with claiming bites???

“You love Dynamight,” Kota said.
Izuku let out a long-suffering exhale. “I beg your pardon?”
“You forgot Hero Dynamight over your girlfriend,” Kota continued. “That means that he’s… he’s the love of your life.”
Kota’s cheeks reddened like he was embarrassed about what he had just said. Izuku stared at him. He didn’t know a Hero Dynamight. But there were a lot of heroes he didn’t know. The world was a big place, after all.
“You grew up together,” Kota barrelled on. “You tell us all the time how the two of you are friends. He guest lectures here sometimes. You… you don’t know who I’m talking about?”
Izuku swallowed hard as he looked at Kota’s face. If this were any other student, he wouldn’t believe it. But Kota wasn’t the type to joke or kid around, especially not with something of this magnitude.
Izuku accidentally gets hit with one of his students' quirks and temporarily forgets the love of his life - who is not, as it turns out, his current girlfriend.

“I… Kacchan asked me-” Izuku started. The words got stuck in his throat a little, but he recomposed himself and continued. “He asked if I would quit teaching, and join his hero agency.”
Izuku heard a quiet gasp from across the table. When he looked up at Ochako once again, her smile was back.
“It's the dream we both had since we were kids. We'd sing about it, we even wrote a diary entry together about it. However, maybe since his quirk manifested, I guess, I had given up that dream…"

After rejecting his offer, Katsuki seemingly disappears from Izuku's life all together. Izuku is forced to face the consequences of his actions head on and talk about this honestly, so he doesn't lose the person dearest to him.
