    Summary

Crowley realizes he is in love with Aziraphale in Rome. Of course, by then, there’s no turning back. This does not necessarily mean there’s going forward. Loving Aziraphale is punishable, forbidden in every sense of the word. But there’s nothing much that can be done about it.

Like a terminal illness, Crowley treats the enormity of his emotions the best he can, distracting himself from the impossibility of having a life with Aziraphale with his favorite vice— having mindless, meaningless sex with any human that bears a resemblance to the angel.

He feeds off fleeting desire (which can almost be mistaken for want). He survives off the attention of strangers (who can almost be mistaken for Aziraphale, in the dark). And he manages. It’s fine.

Only it would be much finer is Aziraphale got off his ass about it. Or got off on his ass about it.

    Summary

Aziraphale was a university student on his last grueling year of pursuing a joint-honors Bachelors degree in Biology and Theology. His favorite day of the week was Sunday, because on Sunday, he could forget about the lab and leave behind the library to gather with his friends and play a competitive game of trivia— Quiz Bowl.

He liked Quiz Bowl because it was a brain game, it was engaging, and it promoted teamwork. But most of all, he liked Quiz Bowl because he was the best at it.

Until Crowley, the arrogant bastard with a swagger in his saunter, started showing up.

Aziraphale has been casually staring at Crowley’s mouth for several thousand years now. He’s handling it. It’s fine. And then Crowley takes up smoking, and Aziraphale wants.

A series of through-the-ages vignettes centred around smoking, repressed feelings, and sex.

“We’re assigning you a tutor, who will go over everything you don’t understand,” At this sentence, he signalled to someone to the right of him and Crowley’s heart dropped straight out his ass.
    No. Fucking. Way
There, sitting there with his back straighter than a ruler, his hands crossed over each other and his head high was Aziraphale Prince, soft curls and sweaters galore.
    ‘“You’re kidding, right?”

OR: Crowley accepts a bet to sleep with Aziraphale within the year to ensure his father wins the election after he’s assigned as his tutor. Only the religious trauma runs deep and Crowley’s slowly falling in love with someone he can’t

”First formulated in 1997, [32] questions to fall in love is a study by psychologist Dr. Arthur Aron which took place at Stony Brook University, New York. The aim? Speeding up the creation of intimacy between two strangers.”
    The Cosmopolitan

    Okay, fine.

Crowley was 32-Questions-That-Lead-To-Love-ing Aziraphale. Sue him.

He had no expectations, all right? Just, an innocent curiosity.
