You’re always drawn to his eyes, such a curious cloudy blue, but with his glasses hooked in the collar of his shirt instead of sitting crooked on the bridge of his nose, his stare is different. He seems older without them; the lines under his eyes are more prominent, and there are more shadows on his face, and his eyes are narrowed a little bit like he’s studying you.
You suck in a breath through gritted teeth, the air hissing as you tug it into your mouth. He is studying you, his hands frozen on the broom handle as he reads your body language and tries to make sense of it. He flexes his arms again to test you, and you hum, you think, or maybe whine. Heat blooms in your chest and trickles through your stomach. Grace tilts his head. His eyes narrow a little bit more. Is he judging you? He’s judging you.
