Okay, fine. Fine! He admits it! He's "into" Agent Stone. Big deal. It's just an unfortunate and regrettable part of being a "human being." But all he has to do is sleep with Stone, and then he'll be able to move on from this silly attraction. Given an appointment five nights north, Gawain believes he will be acting as a would-be knight to a forgotten lord and sets upon his path with a heavy heart. Instead, he finds a softer and stranger duty waiting for him.
Gawain can feel his hand trembling as the lord brings it to his lips. All of it is for a singular reason: that it is so deeply right to be touched in this way by another man. The press of a kiss to the top of his hand causes a satisfaction to wash over him that he did not know was possible before now.
