Summary
He kneels to pick the lock, his hands steady and sure, and stays low as the door swings open slowly. The light cuts sharply into the darkness, illuminating the entry way. Batman doesn’t hold his breath as he pushes it open further, shining the light on the far wall.
Robin grins at him with bloody teeth. “You here to break me out?” he asks hoarsely. “Really pushin’ it, B.”
Two similar instances of Bruce rescuing Jason.

Summary
In another universe, Batman makes it in time to save Robin in Ethiopia. That Jason Todd survives, finishes highschool, goes to college and leaves behind a life of fighting. That Jason Todd doesn't even think about an outcome where Bruce Wayne hadn't saved him.
That is, until he's faced with that reality (and it sucks, unsurprisingly).

Summary
Bruce looks down again, this time focused entirely at the spot where the palms of their hands touch, Jason's soft and unblemished and Bruce's calloused and scarred, “Thank you for waking me up. I'm sorry if I scared you."
“I wasn't scared,” Jason immediately says. He sounds as childish as he feels.
Bruce doesn't chastise him, blinking slowly at him as he laughs quietly and whispers, “I was pretty scared.”
Jason's hand squeezes around Bruce's wrist involuntarily.
(When Bruce has a nightmare, Jason is the one to save him.)

Summary
"She was a metahuman in my city," said Batman, like this was something that made sense and not a completely deranged mindset for someone to have. "There are no metahumans allowed in Gotham."
"What are you talking about?" cried Superman. "Gotham is an American city and you have no right to say someone isn't allowed to live here. Besides, it has a long history of metahuman protectors. Alan Scott has been here before you were even born, and Dinah used to live here too, and there's also--"
Batman was annoyed. He was pretty sure No Metahumans In Gotham was canon, but he'd never actually read a comic book so he couldn't prove it. All his information came from TikToks and tumblr posts. Was it possible he'd beaten a woman to a pulp based on poorly thought-out headcanons? Luckily, he had a fallback. "I'm the richest man in Gotham and that means it's my city and I decide how it operates."

Summary
Jason felt the bottom drop out of his stomach. “Guys—” his voice cracked, “How about we talk this over? You’re the ones always preaching about excessive violence, aren’t you?”
Nothing but six exceedingly unfriendly stares.
“Fuck.”
