Did sirens cry? Maybe Lando was crying, the song projected forlorn like it never had before. And even amid the beauty of his voice, there was something blaring about it. Was he screaming?

“Are you sniffing my clothes, mate?” Lando’s voice violently rips Oscar back to reality.
Oscar drops the hoodie like it’s turned into a venomous snake, recoiling in shock. Lando’s standing in the doorway, motionless, one hand still on the doorknob. Oscar can’t quite read the expression on his face, but he doesn’t need to in order to hear the incredulity ringing out in Lando’s voice.
“Um,” Oscar stammers, panic setting in. This looks so bad.
