“Lan Zhan you’re awake! I was starting to worry!”
Lan Wangji stiffens at the sound of his given name, at the casual familiar way of speaking that only one other person has ever used toward him and that this stranger certainly hasn’t earned.
“Who are you?” Lan Wangji asks and the stranger stiffens, gray eyes widening. For a moment Lan Wangji thinks he sees alarm and maybe a trace of hurt but then the man’s gaze steadies, eyes narrowing consideringly.
“Lan Zhan, what’s the last thing you remember?”
OR Lan Wangji wakes a few weeks after Wei Wuxian's death to find a stranger in his room.

“Does Wei Ying know what might be important about today?” he asks, voice quiet. Wei Wuxian thinks for a second, but nothing pops to mind, so he shakes his head and raises an eyebrow.
Lan Wangji closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
“Today is the anniversary of Wei Ying’s death.”

Infiltrating the League of Villains had its ups and downs - the 'downs' often including Dabi's habit of breaking into Hawks' apartment, although he hadn't set Hawks on fire yet, so Hawks was calling it a net-win overall. When a snowstorm drives Hawks back home, though, and Dabi follows him - getting them both snowed - Hawks finding himself revealing a lot more about himself than he expected. Being groomed by the Commission to be the #2 Hero wasn't all that it was cracked up to be.

Jude knows the pajamas she wears aren’t the latest fashion in Elfhame, hell, they aren’t exactly the latest fashion in the mortal realm either. She can only guess where Vivi got them from, and imagines they weren’t new even then. But none of that matters.
They’re warm, and they’re soft, and that’s all she really cares about. Cardan is free to turn up his nose to them all he wants, but the funny thing is, he doesn’t, and that’s something for Jude to think about later when she’s not burning up with a fever.

She was that dread when you’re walking home alone at midnight, staring up at the starless skies whilst feeling raindrops dotting your skin. Midnight rain is something that makes you regret not bringing that umbrella by the door before you leave, it makes you regret going out so late instead of pushing the matter until the next morning. Midnight rain is something that fills you wholly and completely with melancholic pain.
