The man came to an abrupt halt upon having heard his call. The action made Alan’s heart stutter in his chest. He turned on his heel and faced Alan once more, their eyes reconnected. After a brief moment of thought, the man hesitantly said, “Elias.”
Alan watched, speechless, as the man tipped his bowler hat and continued on his way, leaving Alan alone. The sound of cars flying under the overpass was the only thing to keep him company.
