Summary
We don’t really have conversations where I can just…talk anymore I guess. If it’s not hockey, it all leads back to hockey. I know Dad kind of hates it, but I don’t know how to stop it because there hasn’t exactly been another time of my life where we did.
I think I started these letters when things started to look really serious for hockey—when the idea of making hockey my career became less of something I’d been working towards my whole life, to something that had already become my whole life and was going to inject itself further into my veins. I honestly can’t pinpoint when that happened either.
Or, The night it ends with Rose, Shane turns to a coping mechanism he hasn't used since before his rookie season: writing letters to nowhere so he can say everything he can't.
Or, or, Shane writes a letter to Yuna.

His senses gradually came back to him in increments. The feeling of his eyes no longer shutting against his will, the rumpled fabric of a pillowcase under his cheek, the scratchy material of a mattress under his fingertips.
But most importantly, and the most familiar yet distinct of feelings: a hand in one of his own and the soft whooshing of a breath in his ear.

“Buck,” Tommy says with a sigh, and Buck jolts.
“What?” Buck asks, concerned. Did he do something wrong? Was he supposed to help with the cat? Also man, he really must’ve messed up, if Tommy’s calling him Buck instead of Evan.
Tommy’s eyes flick over to Buck. “Oh, not you. That’s uh—that’s his name.”
Buck stares at Tommy. “Whose name?”
Tommy nods down at the ball of fluff at his legs. “My cat.”
Buck blinks. Once. Twice. “Your cat’s name is Buck?”
or, Buck and Tommy make a quick pit stop at Tommy's house before they go to the movies. Buck gets to meet Buck :)

Summary
Evan steps towards him, feet sliding on the floor, moving until he’s right in front of Bobby. Now that he’s closer, Bobby can see his blotchy face streaked with tears from eyes that are already welling again.
“Kiddo,” Bobby asks gently, “Did you have a bad dream?”
Evan shakes his head, teardrops spilling over onto his wet, rosy cheeks. He removes his thumb momentarily to speak in a quiet, raspy voice. “Hug?”
“Oh, buddy, c’mere.”
Or, Evan wakes up sick and upset. Hopefully Pops can help make everything better (even if some things are scary).
