Tewkesbury stirred slowly, gently, to the soft rays of sunlight that seeped in through his open curtains. His eyes fluttered but stayed closed as the warmth in the bed pressed against his skin, cocooning him. The air was quiet, heavy with the stillness that always lingered after a good rainstorm. It was peaceful. Soothing. Sleep beckoned again, coaxing him to surrender for just a little while longer.
