Summary

"Yes," Xie Lian admitted, almost afraid Hua Cheng might take it all away if he dared deny it. His breaths were ragged, and his body shook, but Xie Lian did all he could to stay still, knowing that fighting it would only encourage Hua Cheng to make him wait even longer. The look on Hua Cheng's face was almost predatory; he'd caught his prey and was enjoying playing with his meal. Barely audibly, Xie Lian breathed, "Fuck…"
"Tsk tsk," Hua Cheng clicked his tongue disapprovingly despite his complacent smile. "Such a dirty mouth. What happened to those princely manners?" He sighed dramatically. "What am I going to do with you?"

As he drew closer he realized the tree was growing out of the massive hollow stump of an old dead one. Though it appeared ordinary, there was an energy to it- a very faint spark of the divine that drew Hua Cheng like a moth to a flame.
He knew, whether intentional or not, this was a grave marker."
