Moonlight made pools of yellow on the marble. What was this place? That was his Stranger from the Tavern of the White Horse, almost a century ago, Hob was sure of it.
Hob had come to suspect that on that otherwise ordinary summer evening, he had embraced immortality and perhaps, given up his soul with perfect happiness. What a fable that would be.

Summary
Bilbo has lost his memory after getting knocked out in Ravenhill, and is found by Thranduil. He’s taken to Mirkwood, unconscious still, to be treated. Upon waking, he discovers he has no memories of the previous year.
Unaware of this development, Thorin and his heirs lie recovering from their wounds and confined to bed rest. Free of the gold madness, the King orders them to search for Bilbo, as the brave burglar is still counted among the many who have disappeared during the fight. Despite this, they find no trace of Bilbo before a terrible snowstorm forces them to abandon their task and accept what they believe to be the hobbit's fate.
The King Under the Mountain mourns and, in the meantime, Bilbo sleeps.

Summary

Erebor was held under vicious siege by the dragon Smaug, who terrorised the land and wiped out the nearby human settlement of Dale. Summary
The company is chased from the goblin tunnels and into trees, where they are forced to make their last stand against Azog. Thorin charges his old foe, and Bilbo comes to his aid. Only this time, when the eagles come to save them, they are temporarily unable to reach the king and burglar, who are left to Azog's mercy.
