It’s almost as dangerous as his eyes, and Katsuki idly wonders if maybe he’s not the beacon on the shore, but something lingering beneath the waves that pulls him down into the undertow. His chest is still tight, but his heart isn’t pounding anymore. His lungs are clear and his mind is empty. He feels numb, resigned. Like this is just life now. Life and death intermingling in a space between.

He speaks suddenly, voice dropping into that near whisper it seems like it always does when he's truly trying to get the doctor's attention. "In the time that you were gone, who got your first kiss?"

Katsuki never thought he'd meet Izuku again after a decade of separation, and he certainly never thought he'd be begging the man to take his virginity not an hour after their reunion. But the universe is unpredictable like that.
