He knew that the minute his mother or Daemon saw their cut lips and bandaged hands, they’d know what they did and any chance of pretending would be gone. But he hadn’t expected to be interrupted during the ceremony. No not during. After. That’s what Jace thought as he was forcefully pulled away from Baela. It can’t be undone. He’s too late.

It was why they had chosen a Valyrian marriage. A sept would have been easier to do quietly, they could have found plain clothes and septon in the village that would marry them without much fuss.
