Lucius is dead and Draco has returned home for the thrilling task of managing the fallout. Considering the Malfoy name carries its own personal brand of shame these days, a quiet, completely isolated existence is exactly what he planned for.
What he did not plan for was Hermione Granger.
More specifically, he did not plan on becoming entirely preoccupied with whatever suspicious secret project she is currently cultivating in his vicinity. He really has no business interfering, but then again, he’s never been particularly good at minding his own business anyway. It’s purely a matter of proximity and mild curiosity. And it certainly has nothing to do with the fact that he cannot seem to stay on his side of the room.
