Scaramouche’s thumb brushes across his cheek, back and forth, breaking through the battle in his mind. “What do you see now?” he asks.
“You,” Tartaglia breathes, like he has found salvation.
Scaramouche kisses him. “Good boy.”
Tartaglia is overtaken by the Abyss, but he is not alone.

Summary
“I don't think you're one of my strays,” the man says. Kaeya startles a little at the rasp of his voice, lurching backwards only to remember where he is a second later, leaning back in with an arm over the man’s throat to overcompensate. He takes a little satisfaction in the way the man chokes at the added pressure. He’s disgruntled when the stranger continues to grin, and Kaeya gets the sudden impression that the choking noise was simply to satisfy him and not because the man felt any threat.
“I'm not a stray,” he retorts hotly, remembering that the man had insulted him only moments prior.
“Are you not?” The man speaks easily, only confirming Kaeya's suspicions that the wheeze was simply to play into the role of a submissive captive, and not because the man’s airways were actually at risk of harm.

Kaeya’s finds himself caught in the winding schemes of the Fatui with a Cryo Vision pulsating at his waist. What is Kaeya meant to do but play along? Even as the Pyro Vision flickers, the Abyss calls, and his past creeps towards him?

Kaeya was not an emotional man. He did not let himself get close to anyone, for fear of repeating his mistake a third time. He'd been first abandoned by Khaenri'ah, and then once more by Mondstadt. Both times because he had been too honest, both because he had gotten too close. In the cold clutches of Snezhnaya, Kaeya now had a third chance. Where he could find closure on his previous life, and where he could begin anew.
When he recognizes Lord Tartaglia in Liyue during his escape to Snezhnaya, it is both a blessing and curse. On the one hand, this could be his best chance to learn the language and have an in with the Fatui so he could find some answers on his father's death, disappearing after. On the other, it signals to him that the Tsaritsa has plans for him, confirmed by the Vision now on his hip. He could be walking right into a trap laid out for him, walking into a plan made to ensnare him when he could simply keep walking and avoid all of it. When he ultimately decides to approach Tartaglia, he does so only to get what he needed and to leave without a trace.
Kaeya could never have known that the Harbinger would be his path to salvation.
