“Didn’t you have a sword?” The snake remarked rather causally. It poked its tail at the empty spot at his hip where the scabbard should've been, making Aziraphale shiver as cold fear rippled through him. “It was flaming like anything.”
“I, erm,” Aziraphale stuttered out. The snake loosened its grip minutely, apparently to allow him enough of a breath to continue, “I gave it away?”
“You what?” It reflexively tightened once more around his body, seemingly in surprise this time. Aziraphale squeaked.
“I gave it away!”
