Lan Qiren rushes to continue before his foolish nephew can get any ideas: “However, I would caution you in pursuing a partner who treats our precepts with such disregard.”
This grounds the confused hope in Lan Wangji’s eyes, some. Good. “I understand, Uncle. I will consider this matter thoroughly.”

Or, Lan Qiren reveals that he knows Lan Wangji's feelings towards Wei Wuxian, and Lan Wangji is forced to face the idea that, if he wanted to, there is nothing stopping him from pursuing a courtship with Wei Wuxian—not that he wants to, of course.

Summary
Lan Wangji knows he is terrible with feelings, and with expressing them. He knows that he is deficient, knows that his words will only ever succeed in pushing Wei Ying away. He knows that he will never be able to make Wei Ying understand, that every attempt to communicate his caring has and always will fail.
His words are deficient, and his actions can only display so much—so when a spirit gets lucky on a night hunt, branding him with a curse mark that displays his feelings to those around him, when he should lock himself away in the Jingshi until it fades, should not allow his emotions to be imposed onto others, he finds himself instead thinking of Yiling.

Everyone goes silent and straightens their backs as he enters and makes his way to the front. Lan Wangji scans the room for anything unusual but they all look normal, well as normal as they can while trying to subtly try to avoid his eyes.

There's a long silence, long enough that Wei Wuxian starts to wonder if Lan Wangji is just going to ignore him. It would hardly be the first time.
"I don't always hate it," he finally says. Lan Wangji's large hand is a warm brand through the thin fabric of Wei Wuxian's robe. His thumb moves a little, sweeping a wide arc over the angle of Wei Wuxian's hipbone. He seems as if he's not done, so Wei Wuxian tries to be patient. "I don't hate it when it's you," Lan Wangji adds.
Lan Wangji has always been particular about touching and being touched. As usual, he's willing to break all of his rules for Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian closes his eyes and recaps the last couple of minutes: him asking (a little crudely) what happened, the juniors looking like Lan Wangji had just announced his deep hatred for rabbits, Lan Wangji himself looking like he’d just announced his deep hatred for rabbits, both of them asking the same question, and—
Realization seeps into Wei Wuxian's bones.
He looks up at Lan Wangji, and Lan Wangji is staring right back at him, and Wei Wuxian’s lips are still tingling, and Lan Wangji is still poking at his own.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Lan Wangji groans.
At the same time, Wei Wuxian murmurs, “Ah.”
(In which Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji investigate a curse and get cursed instead. Everything they try to say comes out of the other person's mouth. It can only go downhill from there.)

"Mm," Lan Wangji says. He raises his arms so that Wei Wuxian can keep undressing him. His clothes will end up on the floor, but no matter. Wei Wuxian's deft hands at his belts are worth wrinkled robes.
"... Goodness, Hanguang-Jun, you wear too many damned layers," Wei Wuxian tells him after a while. "Would it kill you to stop after a reasonable five?"
