Summary
There's not much for Ellie to look towards when she thinks back on the week before Alec's death. There's not much for anyone to do for someone already halfway out the door. Weirdly, she realizes, in her ignorance, their normality was probably the best comfort she ever could've given him.

Alec put his cigarette between his lips and sat up a bit, rubbing his eyes. He settled again against the seat and took the cigarette in his fingers, holding in a heavy inhale before exhaling.
"M'sorry about earlier," he said, after a moment, eyes still closed. "It's been like this for days. I lost it at Tess at the funeral for her choice of flowers. Bloody flowers, Miller." He chuckled soullessly.
Ellie was heartened by his apology. "Well, you were a right knob in there. You'd best apologise to the lot of them when they get back in from lunch."
Alec chuckled. "With this weather and my shoutin' I wouldnae be surprised if they stayed round the pub," he mused.

Summary
Barry bit the inside of his mouth in discomfort. He didn't know if she knew anything. He'd walked in the door, thirsty for water, stressed by Fuches, and awaiting a pizza delivery, only to find Sally holding a gun in the stairway. She'd looked at it as if she'd never seen one. She probably hadn't. Now they had to talk about it (which was fair), although neither of them knew what about it to talk of. Barry doubted he'd get that glass of water anytime soon.

Summary
Ellie thought about Alec in those first weeks of knowing him. Seeing if her memories were different now with this new information.
They weren't. Not really. She wouldn't have ever guessed it if he hadn't trusted her enough to tell her, so she stopped thinking about those weeks and took a sip of tea in the present.
