Summary
In return, Sua gives her answers. The simpler ones. "239 is a prime number, so there's no dividing it perfectly," she says, writing down the answer in the blank space. Filling up the empty corners in Mizi's life, arriving at the conclusion she herself has been skirting around. "It should be around 21.7272727? The numbers will just keep re-occurring. There's no clear end to them."
That's what the sea is like, Mizi wants to tell her. Instead, she leans up to peck Sua on the cheek. It's yet another thing that goes unsaid.
(Or: It is hard for Mizi to keep count of the truths and lies. After all, Sua is the one who has always been good at math.)

“Damn. It’s finally real,” Isaac says, staring over his brother's shoulder. Jacob hums, settling the disc down gently on the table, in the center over their cards.
“So….” Hyuna asks, tentatively. “Why do we have a disc?”
“A record,” Jacob corrects lightly, looking away from his new toy to beam at her. When she doesn’t react, he sighs a little. “It’s the start of everything. The first step of our plan.”
“We’re going to save humanity with that?”

Summary
There's a man is in front of Mizi that she doesn’t recognize.
He crouches down, low enough that he has to look up at her on the cot. He has short hair— silver. Even kneeling, he somehow looks larger-than-life. He looks at her kindly, and despite his furrowed brows, even smiles at her.
He takes a breath, and introduces himself as Till.
(Till finds Mizi one month after his thirtieth birthday. This is something she will only learn about later.)

Summary
It’s the eyes that drive him craziest. The matching habits, mirrored expressions, the same soft hearts, and twin sets of righteous fury— they are enough on their own, enough to make Isaac dizzy. But it’s the eyes that make him sick to his stomach. Isaac knows that they aren’t the same color. Hyuna’s eyes had been soft blue, the color of a cloudless, bright sky. Tills have drops of green muddying that blue, creating something a little more like the seawater. But in the wrong lighting, the colors blur, and all Isaac can see are sharp eyes glimmering, and he forgets who he’s looking at.

Summary
Three days before her death, she sneaks into Mizi’s room at the facility and crawls into bed with her. Normally it’s the other way around, but tonight Sua wanted to be the first one to cave.
Mizi wastes no time curling up and pressing her face into Sua’s neck. She feels warm wetness dripping down onto her chest as she cards her fingers through Mizi’s hair and hums the tune of their song. Each sob that wracks Mizi’s frame is a knife in Sua’s heart—cold and cruel. She comforts her the only way she knows how.

Summary
Far from the oppressively still atmosphere of the watery planet she once lived on, Mizi trudges onward. Whether in the desert or in the ocean, it seems that the feeling of being crushed follows her; rather than being tied to a place, it’s a punishment that belongs to her, and her alone.
Sua never made her feel crushed. Without Sua, then, perhaps Mizi deserves this.
--
Seven years after destroying Alien Stage, Mizi lives on only because she can't bear the thought of dishonoring Sua's death.
**Please note that this fic used to be a multi-chapter fic, but I've decided to make it the first part in a connected series. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused!

Summary
That was their train of thought until, after incessant begging, the younger kids finally dragged a particular deer outside of her home, pulling her by the hand and insisting she be on their team. She was giggling as they did so, somewhat nervously assuring them that she’ll help in any way she can.
It was only when she passed her gate, and locked eyes with Kris down the street – eyes that, unlike recently, were suddenly full of purpose, like a vulture selecting a singular rabbit to prey upon – that Noelle regretted going outside.--
Noelle and Kris struggle to eat, and also have a water balloon fight.

"Mizi doesn’t know pain yet because you’ll teach it to her. That will be your last lesson, and she’ll remember it forever.” He delivered the news with cheery affect, then looked down and shook his head, as if it were a shame. “Honestly, Sua, I have half a mind to spare her the cruelty and tell her myself.”
Sua stood, rolled her glove off her fingers, and struck him across the face.

Summary
There’s a girl in a box.
Mizi is a girl in a box, too. But Mizi’s box isn’t nearly as nice. Mizi’s box isn’t nearly as nice, because she’s alone, and she’s upset.
The other girl is alone, too. She doesn’t look upset, though. She doesn’t look excited, either. Her expression, or at least what Mizi can make of it, is perfectly placid, perfectly still. For a moment, Mizi wonders if she’s a girl at all. Maybe she’s a doll, sculpted from porcelain and glass.
Before she realizes it herself, she places a hand on the invisible wall separating them.
The girl—for it is a girl, Mizi can see now—turns. Her eyes are a quiet, glazed purple, and for a moment, Mizi can do nothing but stare, mesmerized. Not entirely a doll, but maybe not entirely a girl, either.
